OAI Offers Resource on Buying Auto Insurance with No License

Aside from wanting to drive with an international permit to drive, remaining in compliance with certain
state laws is one likely reason that a person may go on a search for obtaining car insurance without
license.
Some states, for instance, will revoke a motorist's license to drive as a penalty for operating a car without
having a policy in place first. The motorist may, depending on state law, need to get covered as a
prerequisite for re-instating his or her license. In order to meet this requirement, the driver may need to
find a provider who will issue a policy without first having proof of licensure. In this instance, though, the
insurance company may require that the driver prove that he or she does get licensed within a certain
period after the policy issue date.
Another scenario could occur in a place like Texas, where the state department of motor vehicles requires
proof of financial responsibility in order for a person to register, or renew registration on, an auto.
Additionally, the state also requires motorists to show proof of financial responsibility when they obtain
or renew their licenses.
